शिवस्तुतिवर्णनम् (Śiva-stuti-varṇanam) — “Description of Hymns in Praise of Śiva”

The Devas
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It shows the Devas aligning their will with Maheśvara’s will—an image of śaraṇāgati (surrender). In Shaiva Siddhanta terms, the divine order is upheld when beings act as instruments under Pati (Śiva), rather than from egoic independence.
The verse directly addresses Śiva as Deveśa and Svāmin, emphasizing Saguna Shiva as the accessible Lord who guides and protects. Linga-worship similarly trains the devotee to approach Śiva as the sovereign refuge and inner ruler who directs one’s life toward dharma.
A practical takeaway is to begin actions with conscious offering to Śiva—mentally dedicating one’s “equipment” (body, speech, mind) to the Lord while repeating the Panchākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” cultivating readiness and steadiness like the Devas.
