Suta Goswami (narrating the Yuddhakhaṇḍa account to the sages)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Candra-cūḍa is an epithet of Mahādeva
The verse warns that confronting Śiva from egoistic “pauruṣa” (self-asserting pride) leads to spiritual and worldly ruin; true strength in Shaiva Siddhanta is humility and surrender to Pati (Śiva), not defiant self-will.
Calling Śiva “Moon-crested” highlights Saguna Śiva—approachable through devotion and worship—yet invincible to arrogance. Linga-worship cultivates reverence and self-purification, the opposite of the pride that provokes conflict with the Divine.
A practical takeaway is to counter pride with daily Panchākṣarī japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) remembrance of impermanence, aligning one’s courage with dharma and devotion rather than rashness.
