Bāṇāsura Receives Gaṇapatya; Genealogical Prelude
Parvati (Girija)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Ardhanārīśvara
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
The verse highlights the Shaiva idea that forms can be assumed for a destined purpose; when the proper time arrives, the Divine operates through manifest appearances, while the inner intent should be aligned to dharma rather than ego or mere desire.
By speaking of ‘svarūpa’ (divine form), the text points to Saguna manifestation—God approachable through form—while implicitly reminding that form is taken up for divine purpose, just as the Linga is a compassionate, accessible focus for worship that leads the devotee toward the formless truth.
A practical takeaway is to steady desire through japa and devotion—especially Panchākṣarī japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—so that when ‘the right time’ arrives, one acts without pride (māna) and in surrender to Śiva.
