The Assault of Gila and Śiva’s Mobilization

Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
It highlights Śiva as Pati—the supreme Lord who directs and empowers even the devas—showing that victory and protection ultimately arise from His sovereign will, not merely from individual strength.
Though the scene is martial, it reflects Saguna Śiva’s compassionate governance: devotees worship the Liṅga as the accessible sign of that same Maheśvara who steadies the cosmos and grants ‘labdha-jaya’ (assured success) to those aligned with dharma.
A practical takeaway is to begin undertakings with Śiva-smaraṇa and japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), cultivating steadiness (sthira-bhāva) and surrendering results to Maheśvara, as the devas act under His command.
