Tattva Level: pati

Shiva Form: Rudra

Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse depicts Mahārudra’s self-manifest radiance (tejas) as a theophany in the Jalandhara conflict narrative.

Significance: Darśana of Rudra’s tejas signifies the Lord’s supremacy (pati) and the soul’s incapacity to ‘withstand’ divine reality without grace; inspires śaraṇāgati and bhakti.

FAQs

It proclaims that Śiva’s tejas (divine radiance) is not merely physical light but the overpowering presence of Pati (the Lord) that dissolves limitation; only a purified, grace-aided awareness can truly “withstand” and receive such darśana.

The verse emphasizes manifestation (darśana) of Śiva’s power in a perceivable way—aligned with Saguna worship where the devotee approaches the Supreme through accessible forms such as the Śiva-liṅga, through which the same transcendent tejas is reverently invoked.

A practical takeaway is to seek Śiva-darśana through disciplined japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with bhasma (Tripuṇḍra) and inner steadiness, cultivating purity so the mind can bear and assimilate the Lord’s presence.
