The Account of Rāhu’s Beheading
Cause and Background
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights that even the Devas can fall in conflict, while true refuge lies in the higher divine order governed by Shiva; victory and protection are not merely matters of celestial power but of grace and dharma.
The verse’s tension—Devas defeated and a sought protector not found—points devotees toward steadier reliance on Saguna Shiva through Linga-worship, where Shiva is approached as the immediate, compassionate protector beyond changing battlefield outcomes.
In times of fear and instability, take up steady japa of the Panchakshara mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and maintain Shaiva disciplines like Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrāksha as supports for unwavering remembrance.
