Determination of Flower-Offerings to Śiva
Suta Goswami (narrating Śiva’s ritual fruits within the Rudrasaṃhitā context)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Significance: Promises saṃtati-vṛddhi (lineage/progeny increase) upon completing a lakṣa-grade observance with correct measure—typical karmaphala that also signals Śiva’s favor when discipline and śāstric correctness are maintained.
Role: nurturing
The verse emphasizes that Śiva-worship bears fruit when done with disciplined completion (lakṣa) and correct observance (vidhi). In a Śaiva Siddhānta lens, outer accuracy supports inner purity, making the devotee fit for Śiva’s grace (anugraha), which is the real source of all auspicious results.
A lakṣa-completion typically refers to a formally concluded vow of japa and offerings performed before Śiva in saguna form—often the Śiva-liṅga—where count, measure (droṇa), and procedure are observed as part of liṅga-sevā and ritual completion.
It points to completing a lakṣa (100,000) count of mantra-japa as a vrata, together with a prescribed offering measured as half a droṇa, all done vidhi-pūrvaka—i.e., with proper sankalpa, purity, and concluding rites (pūrṇāhuti/udvāpanā as applicable).
