Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Significance: Summarizes navāṅga-bhakti as a complete sādhana: it yields bhukti (ordered worldly flourishing) and mukti (release) and generates jñāna—hallmark of Śiva’s anugraha over the paśu.
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
Offering: dhupa
It declares that Shiva-bhakti is not merely emotional devotion: its disciplined “ninefold” practice is a direct means for the rise of jñāna (spiritual knowledge) and culminates in mukti, while also supporting righteous well-being (bhukti) in worldly life.
By affirming that these devotional limbs are “dear to Me,” the verse supports Saguna worship—approaching Shiva with concrete acts like hearing, chanting, remembrance, and service, commonly centered on the Shiva-liṅga as the accessible, grace-bestowing form of Pati (Shiva).
Adopt a structured bhakti-sādhana: daily śravaṇa and kīrtana of Shiva’s names (especially pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), smaraṇa (remembrance) and arcana (liṅga-pūjā); these are presented as practices that ripen into jñāna and liberation.
