to the Sage
ब्रह्मोवाच । संज्ञां लब्धा ततस्सा च मेना शैलप्रिया सती । विललापातिसंक्षुब्धा तिरस्कारमथाकरोत्
brahmovāca | saṃjñāṃ labdhā tatassā ca menā śailapriyā satī | vilalāpātisaṃkṣubdhā tiraskāramathākarot
Phạm Thiên nói: Bấy giờ Mênā, người phụ nữ hiền đức yêu núi, liền tỉnh lại. Quá đỗi bàng hoàng, bà bắt đầu than khóc và rồi thốt lời trách cứ.

It shows how intense worldly attachment and protective maternal emotion can surge even in virtuous people; the Purana frames this as a human response that must ultimately be refined into steadiness and devotion toward Pati (Śiva), the supreme refuge.
Menā’s agitation contrasts with the calming orientation of Saguna Śiva-bhakti: when the mind is shaken by fear or social concern, remembrance of Śiva (often through Linga-upāsanā) restores inner order and aligns the household with dharma.
As a practical takeaway, one may steady the mind through japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and simple Śiva-pūjā (with bhasma/tripuṇḍra and respectful prayer) when emotions become turbulent.
