Pārvatī’s Request: Śiva to Seek Her in Beggar-Form at Himālaya’s Court
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
The verse teaches that craving and dependency (expressed as “give to me”) instantly reduce one’s inner dignity and spiritual weight. In a Shaiva Siddhanta lens, desire strengthens pāśa (bondage), while restraint and contentment support clarity, devotion, and liberation.
Linga-worship trains the devotee to offer rather than demand—cultivating śaraṇāgati (surrender) and contentment. Approaching Saguna Shiva with humility, one seeks grace and purification, not the ego’s bargaining; this verse warns against desire-driven prayer that increases attachment.
Practice offering-centered worship: daily Linga abhiṣeka with water and bilva leaves while repeating the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and conclude with a brief vow of contentment (santoṣa) to reduce habitual asking and strengthen inner steadiness.
