Shiva Purana — Rudra Samhita, Shloka 11

Pārvatī’s Discourse: Establishing Śiva as Parabrahman

FAQs

The verse teaches that sincere devotion (bhajana) to Śiva transforms the jīva from fear-bound mortality to fearlessness by Śiva’s grace, pointing to liberation where death no longer has spiritual dominion.

Calling Śiva “Mṛtyuñjaya” highlights His accessible, saguna grace: through concrete worship—often centered on the Śiva-liṅga—the devotee receives protection from the dread of death and is led toward mokṣa.

The takeaway is steady Śiva-bhajana—regular japa of Śiva’s names (especially “Mṛtyuñjaya” and the Pañcākṣarī, Om Namaḥ Śivāya) along with liṅga-pūjā, cultivating fearlessness and surrender.
