Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Significance: Highlights saṅkalpa (intentional resolve) as the stabilizing link between rite and realization; steadiness in repeated yāma-based worship cultivates continuity (sthiti) and receptivity to grace.
It emphasizes niyama (disciplined observance): worship becomes spiritually effective when grounded in a clear saṅkalpa and performed with composure, aligning the devotee’s intention with devotion to Pati (Śiva).
Liṅga-pūjā in the Kotirudra context is a saguna mode of approaching Śiva; the verse teaches that the outer rite should be anchored by inner resolve (saṅkalpa), either renewed at specific times (yāmas) or established once and maintained through correct procedure.
It prescribes making a formal saṅkalpa before pūjā—either repeating it in the second yāma or doing it once—then continuing the worship exactly as instructed, supporting steady mantra-japa and focused devotion.
