देवैश्च पीडितः सोपि यावद्गर्तमुपागतः । तावच्छूलेन संप्रोतः शिवेन परमात्मना
devaiśca pīḍitaḥ sopi yāvadgartamupāgataḥ | tāvacchūlena saṃprotaḥ śivena paramātmanā
Bị các chư thiên bức bách, hắn cũng chạy trốn cho đến khi tới một hố sâu; nhưng ngay khoảnh khắc ấy, Śiva—Đấng Tối Thượng Ngã—đã dùng cây tam trượng của Ngài đâm xuyên hắn.

The verse highlights Shiva as Paramatma (Pati), the ultimate sovereign who restores cosmic order: even when worldly powers (the devas) are involved, final protection and justice proceed from Shiva alone.
It points to Saguna Shiva’s active grace and governance—Shiva intervenes in history and protects dharma—encouraging devotees to take refuge in Shiva’s manifest form, classically approached through Linga worship and remembrance of His divine weapons and attributes.
A practical takeaway is śaraṇāgati (refuge) through japa of the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” coupled with mindful contemplation of Shiva as Paramatma who cuts through fear and bondage (pāśa), especially on Mahāśivarātri.
