The Determination of Śiva as the Meaning of Praṇava

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Rudra
It frames worship as disciplined invocation: the seeker calls the sacred fire (Agni) as the purifier and asks for auspicious divine support, indicating that inner and outer purification are supports to Shaiva realization of Pati (Shiva).
Even when the goal is Shiva (Pati), the ritual order uses supporting deities and Vedic invocations as auxiliaries; the offerings and recitations become acts of bhakti directed toward Saguna Shiva, culminating in steadiness of mind fit for grace.
A structured pūjā sequence: invoke Agni, recite auspiciousness mantras, then complete the rite with prescribed utterances—practically, mantra-japa with purified offerings (and, where taught elsewhere in the Purana, supported by bhasma and Rudraksha for steadiness).
