Hanuman Enters Lanka and Encounters Laṅkā-devatā
ततः स कपिशार्दूलो लङ्कया ताडितो भृशम्।ननाद सुमहानादं वीर्यवान् पवनात्मजः।।।।
tataḥ sa kapiśārdūlo laṅkayā tāḍito bhṛśam | nanāda su-mahā-nādaṃ vīryavān pavanātmajaḥ ||
Bấy giờ vị hổ giữa loài khỉ—Hanumān, bậc dũng mãnh, con của Thần Gió—bị Laṅkā đánh mạnh, liền gầm lên một tiếng vang dội khôn cùng.
At this strong slap, the heroic Hanuman, son of the Wind-god roared loudly.
Even when injured, Hanumān’s first response is a roar—an assertion of strength without immediate lethal retaliation—suggesting controlled power under dharma.
After Laṅkā strikes him, Hanumān reacts by roaring mightily.
Vīrya (valor) combined with restraint: strength is displayed, but not yet turned into excessive violence.
