Trijata’s Dream-Omens and the Rakshasis’ Reversal
प्रियां बहुमतां भार्यां वनवासमनुव्रताम्।।5.27.40।।भर्त्सितां तर्जितां वापि नानुमंस्यति राघवः।
priyāṃ bahumatāṃ bhāryāṃ vanavāsam anuvratām ||5.27.40||
bhartsitāṃ tarjitāṃ vāpi nānumaṃsyati rāghavaḥ |
Rāghava sẽ không dung thứ—dù nàng bị nhục mạ hay bị đe dọa—người vợ yêu dấu, được tôn kính bậc nhất, đã theo Ngài chịu cảnh lưu đày nơi rừng thẳm.
"Rama will not approve of any one abusing or threatening his venerable, beloved wife, who had led a life of exile with him.
Dharma includes honoring and protecting the blameless: threatening a devoted spouse who upheld duty in hardship is a grave wrong that righteousness will not permit.
Trijaṭā argues that Rāma, upon reaching Sītā, will not accept her humiliation and will respond decisively against her tormentors.
Sītā’s steadfast fidelity (anuvratā) and Rāma’s protective integrity (maryādā and justice).
