The Request for Śabalā and Vasiṣṭha’s Refusal
viśvāmitro 'pi rājarṣir hṛṣṭaḥ puṣṭas tadābhavat |
sāntaḥpuravaro rājā sabrāhmaṇapurohitaḥ || 1.53.6 ||
King Viswamitra along with ladies, priests and brahmins including the royal sage were fully satisfied and delighted.
It reflects social dharma: honoring guests of every rank and accompanying group, ensuring none are neglected.
The narrative notes that Viśvāmitra himself—along with his full retinue—was satisfied by the hospitality.
Civility and proper reception, which upholds harmony between spiritual and royal authorities.
