The Instruction of Bala and Atibala
ततो रामो जलं स्पृष्ट्वा प्रहृष्टवदनश्शुचि:।प्रतिजग्राह ते विद्ये महर्षेर्भावितात्मन:।।1.22.20।।
tato rāmo jalaṃ spṛṣṭvā prahṛṣṭavadanaḥ śuciḥ | pratijagrāha te vidye maharṣer bhāvitātmanaḥ || 1.22.20 ||
Bấy giờ Rāma chạm tay vào nước để tự thanh tịnh, gương mặt rạng rỡ hoan hỷ, rồi thọ nhận hai minh khoa ấy từ vị đại ẩn sĩ có tự tâm đã được tu chứng viên mãn.
Thereafter Rama, touched the water and was sanctified. With a cheerful face he received those two sciences from the maharshi who had perceived the supreme soul.
Dharma values right procedure and purity: sacred learning is received with reverence, ritual readiness, and inner cleanliness—signaling responsibility in wielding spiritual power.
Rāma performs a purificatory act and formally accepts the two mantra-vidyās from Viśvāmitra.
Rāma’s respectful discipleship—joyful yet disciplined acceptance of instruction.
