pituḥ satyaṃ pratiśrutya hatvā bharatam āgatam |

kiṃ kariṣyāmi rājyena sāpavādena lakṣmaṇa ||

Translation

Này Lakṣmaṇa, dẫu ta đã thề giữ trọn lời chân thật của phụ vương, thì vương quyền có ích gì cho ta, nếu phải mang tiếng nhơ—giết Bharata đang đến đây?
