पितृवाक्यपालनम्, गयाश्रुति-उपदेशः, भरतस्य राज्यग्रहण-निर्देशः
Rama’s Counsel on Vows, the Gaya Śruti, and Bharata’s Return to Rule
त्वं राजा भरत भव स्वयं नराणां वन्यानामहमपि राजराण्मृगाणाम्।गच्छ त्वं पुरवरमद्य सम्प्रहृष्टस्संहृष्टस्त्वहमपि दण्डकान्प्रवेक्ष्ये।।2.107.17।।
tvaṃ rājā bharata bhava svayaṃ narāṇāṃ vanyānām aham api rājarāṭ mṛgāṇām | gaccha tvaṃ puravaram adya samprahṛṣṭaḥ saṃhṛṣṭas tv aham api daṇḍakān pravekṣye || 2.107.17 ||
Ngươi hãy làm vua, Bharata, cai trị loài người; còn ta sẽ làm chúa tể của muông thú nơi rừng sâu. Hôm nay ngươi hãy về thành tối thắng với lòng hoan hỷ; và ta cũng hân hoan bước vào miền hoang dã Daṇḍaka.
Thereafter in the battle between gods and demons, the able king (Dasaratha) pleased (with your mother) granted her a boon (as a token of gratitude).
Dharma is right role-acceptance: Bharata must uphold royal duty, while Rama embraces exile without resentment.
Rama reassures Bharata by poetically dividing their realms—Ayodhyā for Bharata, the forest for Rama.
Rama’s cheerfulness in sacrifice—performing duty with inner joy rather than bitterness.
