FAQs

It states a phalaśruti (result-of-merit): the person gains extraordinary enjoyments—maidens compared to Urvaśī and vast cattle-wealth.

Urvaśī is a paradigmatic apsaras renowned for beauty; invoking her sets a superlative standard for the promised reward.

In Purāṇic style, such promises motivate dharmic acts by portraying their fruits; the broader ethical lesson depends on the surrounding passage (e.g., dāna, vrata, tīrtha, or worship) that is being praised.
