Brāhmaṇa-Mahimā and Pādodaka Merit
शौनक उवाच । कथयस्व महाप्राज्ञ ब्राह्मणस्य कृपार्णव । माहात्म्यं सर्ववर्णानां श्रेष्ठस्य कृपया च मे
śaunaka uvāca | kathayasva mahāprājña brāhmaṇasya kṛpārṇava | māhātmyaṃ sarvavarṇānāṃ śreṣṭhasya kṛpayā ca me
Śaunaka thưa: “Bạch bậc đại trí, biển cả của lòng từ mẫn, xin vì thương xót mà kể cho con nghe vinh quang (māhātmya) của Brāhmaṇa—bậc tối thượng trong mọi varṇa.”

Concept: Humble inquiry (praśna) to a compassionate knower is the gateway to understanding varṇāśrama-dharma and the sanctity of the brāhmaṇa role.
