Uncertain (context not provided; likely a male speaker addressing a woman, e.g., in a Mahādeva–Pārvatī style dialogue)

Concept: Adornment is layered: outer grace, inner conduct, and truthfulness; the hierarchy points from appearance to character to integrity.

Application: Cultivate character and truth as ‘ornaments’; treat external beauty as secondary to ethical consistency.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: shringara

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A teacher-like figure enumerates virtues with calm precision, counting on fingers or with a rosary, while the woman listens attentively. Behind them, symbolic objects—mirror (beauty), scripture (conduct), and a clear crystal (truth)—are arranged like teaching aids.","primary_figures":["a sage/elder instructor","an auspicious woman listener"],"setting":"quiet hermitage veranda with a low teaching platform and symbolic objects","lighting_mood":"forest dappled","color_palette":["sage green","ochre","crystal white","rose pink","deep brown"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: didactic virtue-enumeration scene, instructor with gold leaf halo, mirror-scripture-crystal arranged in foreground, rich maroon and green drapery, ornate borders with lotus and conch motifs, jewel-like highlights emphasizing ‘ornaments’ theme","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: serene teaching moment under a tree canopy, delicate lines and soft shading, symbolic objects subtly painted, cool greens and pinks, refined expressions conveying attentive listening and moral instruction","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlined instructor gesturing numbered virtues, stylized teaching props, warm earthy pigments, symmetrical vine borders, large expressive eyes, calm pedagogic mood","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: decorative border of lotuses and floral arabesques framing a moral teaching tableau, deep blue ground with gold accents, symbolic mirror and crystal rendered as motifs, devotional elegance rather than courtly drama"}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"meditative","suggested_raga":"Bhupali","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"serene","sound_elements":["rustling leaves","distant river hush","soft tanpura","brief bell chime between enumerations"]}

FAQs

The verse lists (1) beauty/form (rūpa), (2) good conduct/character (śīla), and (3) truthfulness (satya) as the three adornments.

It places inner virtues—character and truthfulness—alongside beauty, implying that moral integrity is a primary form of true ornamentation.

From the verse alone the speaker cannot be identified with certainty; the vocative “śubhe” indicates it is addressed to an “auspicious” woman, but the surrounding chapter context is needed to name the speaker reliably.
