Brahmā’s Discourse to Mohinī
Harivāsara, Desire, and the Satya-Test of Rukmāṅgada
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhayanaka
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It warns that uncontrolled agitation of the mind upon sense-contact can nullify one’s accumulated puṇya, emphasizing inner restraint as essential for dharma and liberation-oriented life.
Bhakti requires steadiness (niṣkāma focus) and purity of mind; when one is shaken by lustful distraction, devotion loses its firmness, so the verse supports cultivating vairāgya and self-control to keep bhakti unwavering.
A practical takeaway aligned with dharma-śāstra discipline is indriya-nigraha (control of the senses) and brahmacarya-like restraint—key supports for effective japa, vrata observance, and ritual purity, though no specific Vedanga (like Jyotiṣa or Vyākaraṇa) is directly taught in this verse.
