FAQs

It highlights a core Purāṇic principle: even great honor in Svarga is temporary, because heavenly status ends when accumulated merit (puṇya-karma) is exhausted, leading the soul back to earthly existence.

By implying the limits of merit-based rewards, the verse supports the Purāṇic emphasis that lasting liberation requires a higher pursuit than Svarga—classically fulfilled through steady devotion and God-centered practice rather than seeking only heavenly फल (results).

The verse is primarily about karma-phala (results of actions) rather than a specific Vedāṅga; practically, it reinforces ritual ethics: puṇya can yield Svarga, but its fruit is finite—so one should pair rites with higher spiritual intent (dharma and liberation-oriented practice).
