Aṣṭākṣarī Maṇḍala-Pūjā and Nyāsa
सावित्रीग्रंथिसंयुक्तमुपवीतं तवार्प्यते । दिव्यरत्नसमायुक्ता वह्निभानुसमप्रभाः ॥ ३५ ॥
sāvitrīgraṃthisaṃyuktamupavītaṃ tavārpyate | divyaratnasamāyuktā vahnibhānusamaprabhāḥ || 35 ||
Narada (ritual narration/description within Uttara-Bhaga context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
The verse frames the upavīta as a sacred, consecrated offering tied to Sāvitrī (Gāyatrī), symbolizing Vedic discipline, purity, and the seeker’s readiness for mantra-japa and dharmic conduct.
By presenting the upavīta as an offering, it emphasizes bhakti expressed through reverent ritual (ārpaṇa) and inner sanctity—devotion supported by vows, purity, and remembrance of the divine through mantra.
It points to ritual procedure and mantra-linked samskāra practice (the Sāvitrī/Gāyatrī connection), aligning with Vedāṅga concerns such as correct ritual performance (Kalpa) and proper recitation discipline (Śikṣā).
