Tīrtha-yātrā-varṇana
Description of Pilgrimage to the Sacred Fords
Suta (narrating the Tirtha-Mahatmya portion of Uttara-Bhaga; dialogue traditionally framed through sages)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
The verse elevates darśana (direct sacred vision) of Lalitā as a liberating act: it removes fear of rebirth and grants merit equal to the vast austerity of circumambulating the whole earth.
It presents bhakti as accessible and potent—sincere devotion culminating in darśana yields transformative grace, surpassing even large-scale pilgrimage efforts.
Ritual-practice knowledge is implied through the concept of pradakṣiṇā (circumambulation) and pilgrimage merit (tirtha-phala), emphasizing how prescribed devotional acts and sacred observances are evaluated by their spiritual fruit.
