Māgha-snāna, Harivāsara, and the Kāṣṭhīlā-Upākhyāna
Narrator (dialogue-context within Book 2; speaker not explicitly named in this single verse)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It links present experiences to pūrvajanma-karma: prior sin conditions one’s speech and circumstances, while “satyaṃ satyam” emphasizes the puranic insistence on truth as a spiritually weighty utterance that triggers consequential events.
Indirectly: Bhakti traditions in the Narada Purana repeatedly stress purification from pāpa through truthful living and devotion; this verse highlights karmic burden, implying the need for cleansing practices—often fulfilled through Vishnu-bhakti, vrata, and tīrtha-sevā in the Uttara-Bhāga.
A basic Vyākaraṇa-style cue appears in emphatic repetition (“satyaṃ satyam”) to intensify meaning; otherwise the verse is primarily karmic-narrative rather than technical Vedāṅga instruction.
