The Description of Kāśī (Kāśī-māhātmya): Avimukta, Kapālamocana, and Śiva’s Purification
तमुवाच हृषीकेशः प्रणतं भूतनायकम् । वरं वृणु प्रदास्येऽहं संतुष्टः स्तोत्रतस्तव ॥ ५२ ॥
tamuvāca hṛṣīkeśaḥ praṇataṃ bhūtanāyakam | varaṃ vṛṇu pradāsye'haṃ saṃtuṣṭaḥ stotratastava || 52 ||
Bấy giờ Hṛṣīkeśa (Viṣṇu) nói với vị chúa tể muôn loài đang đảnh lễ: “Hãy chọn một ân huệ; Ta sẽ ban cho ngươi, vì Ta hài lòng trước bài tán tụng của ngươi.”
Hṛṣīkeśa (Lord Viṣṇu)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It highlights the Purāṇic principle that sincere praise (stotra) offered with humility can directly please Viṣṇu, who responds as Varada (the giver of boons).
Bhakti is shown as reverent surrender (praṇāma) combined with heartfelt glorification; the Lord’s pleasure arises from devotion, not merely from external status.
No specific Vedāṅga is taught directly; the practical takeaway is the disciplined use of stotra (sacred praise/recitation) as a devotional practice aligned with Purāṇic ritual culture.
