The Discourse of Rukmāṅgada

Prabodhinī Ekādaśī, Kārtika-vrata, and Satya-dharma

मुक्त्वैकं ब्राह्मणं लोके नोक्तं शूद्रविशोरपि । दानं हि पालनं युद्धं तृतीयं भूभुजां स्मृतम् ॥ २ ॥

muktvaikaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ loke noktaṃ śūdraviśorapi | dānaṃ hi pālanaṃ yuddhaṃ tṛtīyaṃ bhūbhujāṃ smṛtam || 2 ||

Trong đời này, ngoài Brāhmaṇa ra, không có bổn phận nào khác được nêu cho Śūdra hay Vaiśya. Còn đối với các bậc vua chúa, ba điều được ghi nhớ là: bố thí, hộ trì cai trị, và chiến trận.
