Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: vira
It prescribes core vānaprastha restraints—reducing sense-indulgence and strengthening tapas—so the mind becomes fit for detachment and higher contemplation.
By curbing sensuality, over-sleep, and inertia, the practitioner preserves clarity and steadiness—supporting regular japa, smaraṇa, and disciplined worship that nourish bhakti.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught here; the verse focuses on āśrama-dharma and niyamas (practical disciplines) for vānaprastha life.
