Dhvajāropaṇa and Dhvajāgopaṇa: Procedure, Stotra, and Phala (Merit) of Raising Viṣṇu’s Flag
आरोपितं ध्वजं दृष्ट्वा येऽभिनन्दन्ति धार्मिकाः । तेऽपि सर्वे प्रमुच्यन्ते महापातककोटिभिः ॥ ४५ ॥
āropitaṃ dhvajaṃ dṛṣṭvā ye'bhinandanti dhārmikāḥ | te'pi sarve pramucyante mahāpātakakoṭibhiḥ || 45 ||
Ngay cả những người hiền thiện chỉ cần thấy lá cờ đã được dựng lên và hoan hỷ tán thán—họ cũng đều được giải thoát khỏi vô số (hàng crores) đại tội.
Narada (teaching in a dharma-mahātmya context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It teaches that even a small, sincere devotional response—seeing a consecrated flag and rejoicing—can generate immense punya and weaken the burden of even major sins.
Bhakti is shown as accessible: not only elaborate rites, but also heartfelt appreciation of sacred emblems (like a dhvaja associated with worship) becomes a liberating act when aligned with dharma.
This verse primarily emphasizes ritual culture (dharma/ācāra) rather than a specific Vedanga; it highlights the principle of darśana and anumodana—gaining merit through reverent witnessing and approving sacred observances.
