The Outline (Anukramaṇī) of the Vāyavīya (Vāyu) Purāṇa
रुद्रलोके वसेत्सोऽपि यावदिंद्राश्चतुर्द्दश । यः श्रावयेद्वा श्रृणुयाद्वायवीयमिदं नरः ॥ १८ ॥
rudraloke vasetso'pi yāvadiṃdrāścaturddaśa | yaḥ śrāvayedvā śrṛṇuyādvāyavīyamidaṃ naraḥ || 18 ||
Người nào khiến phần Vāyavīya này được tụng đọc, hoặc tự mình lắng nghe, thì được cư trú nơi cõi Rudra lâu bằng thời của mười bốn Indra (tức trải qua mười bốn Manvantara).
Narada (teaching the Sanatkumara brothers in the Anukramanika context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It presents a phalaśruti: hearing or sponsoring the recitation of the Vāyavīya Purāṇic text yields exceptionally long-lasting merit, symbolized by residence in Rudra-loka across vast cosmic periods.
It emphasizes śravaṇa (devotional listening) and supporting sacred recitation as accessible devotional acts that generate powerful spiritual results, aligning with Purāṇic bhakti practice.
The verse uses Purāṇic time-reckoning (cosmic chronology—Manvantaras and successive Indras), a practical framework related to Jyotiṣa-style calendrical and epochal understanding, though not a direct Vedāṅga instruction.
