प्रवृत्तिः सर्वशास्त्राणां पुराणादभवत्ततः । कालेनाग्रहणं दृष्ट्वा पुराणस्य महामतिः ॥ २३ ॥

Transliteration

pravṛttiḥ sarvaśāstrāṇāṃ purāṇādabhavattataḥ | kālenāgrahaṇaṃ dṛṣṭvā purāṇasya mahāmatiḥ || 23 ||

Translation

Từ Purāṇa mà dòng chảy và sự truyền bá của mọi śāstra đã phát sinh. Rồi bậc đại trí, thấy rằng theo thời gian Purāṇa không còn được tiếp nhận và ghi nhớ đúng đắn, liền tìm cách gìn giữ và hoằng truyền.
