The Narration of the Brāhma Purāṇa’s Account
Brāhma Purāṇānukramaṇikā
सूत उवाच । एतच्छ्रुत्वा नारदस्तु कुमारस्य वचो मुदा । पुनरप्याह सुप्रीतो जिज्ञासुः श्रेय उत्तमम् ॥ १ ॥
sūta uvāca | etacchrutvā nāradastu kumārasya vaco mudā | punarapyāha suprīto jijñāsuḥ śreya uttamam || 1 ||
Sūta nói: Nghe lời của Kumāra với niềm hoan hỷ, Nārada vô cùng mãn nguyện liền lại cất lời, khát khao được biết thiện ích tối thượng (phúc lợi tâm linh cao nhất).
Suta
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It highlights the ideal disciple’s attitude: joyful reception of instruction, inner satisfaction, and renewed inquiry aimed at śreyas—the highest spiritual good rather than temporary gains.
While not naming bhakti directly, it models the bhakti-like posture of humility and eagerness to hear and ask again—an essential mood for receiving higher teachings that later culminate in devotion and liberation.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is the method of śāstric learning—śravaṇa (hearing) followed by jijñāsā (systematic inquiry).
