The Account of the Third-day Vow Observed through the Twelve Months
Tṛtīyā-vrata
Narada
Vrata: Hāritālaka-vrata (implied by continuity)
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It states the phala (fruit) of faithful vrata-observance: the devotee gains auspicious enjoyments and, through the vow’s spiritual potency, attains proximity to the divine feminine as Gaurī’s companion.
By presenting the vow as a devotion-filled discipline whose power grants divine association, the verse highlights bhakti expressed through regulated practice (vrata) leading to nearness to the deity.
Ritual application is implied rather than a specific Vedanga: the verse functions as a phala-shruti used in vrata-kalpa (vow procedure), reinforcing how prescribed observances are linked to stated results in Dharma-oriented practice.
