Adhyaya 91The Gods’ Hymn to Kātyāyanī and the Goddess’ Prophecy of Future Manifestations

देवा ऊचुः सर्वबाधाप्रशमनं त्रैलोक्यस्याखिलेश्वरि ।

एवमेव त्वया कार्यमस्मद्वैरिविनाशनम् ॥

devā ūcuḥ sarvabādhāpraśamanaṃ trailokyasyākhileśvari /

evam eva tvayā kāryam asmadvairivināśanam

Chư thiên thưa rằng: Ôi Đấng Tối Thượng của muôn loài, xin dập tắt mọi khổ não của ba cõi. Và xin Ngài cũng hoàn thành việc diệt trừ các kẻ thù của chúng con.

FAQs

The gods ask for two linked outcomes: universal relief (sarva-bādhā-praśamana) and the removal of hostile forces. The text frames ‘enemy-destruction’ as dharmic only when subordinated to the wellbeing of all realms.

Upākhyāna: the narrative’s moral closure where divine intervention is requested to stabilize the worlds post-conflict.

‘Enemies’ can be read as inner adversaries (anger, pride, delusion). The prayer is for both symptom-relief (bādhā) and root-cause removal (vairi).
