Adhyaya 82 — The Rise of Mahishasura and the Manifestation of the Goddess from the Gods’ Tejas
Adharma may appear immeasurable and entrenched, but the Purāṇic lesson is that its apparent magnitude is not a true measure of strength against the divine.
Again, this is an episode (ākhyāna) used for instruction and devotion; it is not genealogical or cosmological enumeration.
Mahishasura surrounded by innumerable ‘vehicles’ suggests consciousness trapped in layers of momentum and force. The Devi’s intervention represents the breakthrough of liberating power (śakti) into that density.
