Adhyaya 70 — The King Confronts the Rakshasa and Restores the Brahmin’s Wife
राक्षस उवाच ममात्रागच्छता गेहं प्रसादस्ते महान् कृतः ।
प्रसाधि किं करोम्येष वसामि विषये तव ॥
rākṣasa uvāca mamātrāgacchatā gehaṃ prasādas te mahān kṛtaḥ | praśādhi kiṃ karomy eṣa vasāmi viṣaye tava ||
Rākṣasa nói: “Ngài đến nơi cư trú của tôi, ấy là ân huệ lớn lao đối với tôi. Xin ngài đoái thương—tôi phải làm gì? Tôi cư ngụ trong cõi nước của ngài.”

The verse shows how wrongdoers may cloak themselves in polite dharmic language (hospitality, service) when confronted. Dharma requires discernment: courteous words do not erase harmful acts.

The rākṣasa’s appeal to ‘your realm’ hints at the psyche: even dark impulses exist within the field of awareness and must be governed. Order is restored when all forces acknowledge a higher principle.
