Adhyaya 19 — Kartavirya Arjuna at Dattatreya’s Ashram: Boons, Sovereignty, and Vaishnava Praise

Sovereignty is ultimately framed as granted and constrained by divine/moral order: the ruler becomes ‘cakravartin’ not merely by force but by alignment with grace and dharma.
Carita/Vamśānucarita: the verse functions as a narrative certification of the hero’s future status and explains his exceptional reign within dynastic history.
The ‘wheel’ (cakra) of cakravartin can be read as the axis of order: when the center (inner dharma) is steady through grace, the circumference (the world/realm) comes under harmonious governance.
