Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 33 — Kuru Cattle-Raid and Matsya Mobilization (भूमिंजय-प्रेरणा)
एवं ते जीवितं दद्यामेष युद्धजितो विधि: । तमुवाच ततो ज्येष्ठो भ्राता सप्रणयं वच:
evaṁ te jīvitaṁ dadyām eṣa yuddha-jito vidhiḥ | tam uvāca tato jyeṣṭho bhrātā sapraṇayaṁ vacaḥ ||
“Nếu ngươi chấp nhận điều ấy, ta sẽ tha mạng cho ngươi; đó là luật của kẻ đã thắng trận.” Bhīma vừa dứt lời, người anh cả Yudhiṣṭhira liền nói với chàng bằng những lời ân cần, hòa giải—ngụ ý rằng chiến thắng phải được chế ngự bởi dharma và sự tiết độ, chứ không chỉ bởi cơn giận.
