Kīcaka-vadha-pratisaṃjñā: Rumor in Matsya and the Kaurava Scouts’ Report (कीचकवध-प्रतिसंज्ञा)
sairandhry uvāca trayodaśāhamātra me rājā kṣāmyatu bhāmini | kṛtakṛtyā bhaviṣyanti gandharvās te na saṁśayaḥ ||
The verse highlights restraint and strategic patience: a wronged person may seek justice, yet must act within constraints of time, circumstance, and dharma—here, requesting forgiveness and a brief delay while trusting that consequences will unfold.
Draupadī, disguised as Sairandhrī in Virāṭa’s court, asks that the king excuse her for thirteen more days, asserting that the ‘Gandharvas’ (a veiled reference to powerful protectors) will soon complete their purpose—implying imminent resolution and retribution.
