Adhyāya 14: Sudēṣṇā Sends Sairandhrī to Kīcaka’s House

na arhasi evaṃ varārohe pratyākhyātuṃ varānane | māṃ manmatha-samādaviṣṭaṃ tvat-kṛte cāru-hāsini ||

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how desire can overwhelm judgment and lead to pressuring speech; ethically, it underscores the importance of restraint and respecting refusal rather than attempting to override it through emotional appeal.

A man addresses a woman with flattering epithets and urges her not to reject his request, claiming he is afflicted by passion (Manmatha) on her account—an instance of persuasive, desire-driven solicitation within the Virāṭa-parvan episode.
