स बाल एव तेजस्वी पितुस्तस्य निवेशने । इध्मानां भारमाजद्ठे इध्मवाहस्ततो5भवत्,पिताके घरमें रहते हुए तेजस्वी दृढस्यु बाल्य-कालसे ही इध्म (समिधा)-का भार वहन करके लाने लगे; अतः “इध्मवाह” नामसे विख्यात हो गये
sa bāla eva tejasvī pituḥ tasya niveśane | idhmānāṁ bhāram ājadḍhe idhmavāhas tato 'bhavat |
Dẫu còn là một cậu bé, Dṛḍhasyu đã sống trong nhà cha với khí chất sáng ngời và sức lực bẩm sinh. Từ thuở ấu thơ, chàng thường mang những bó củi tế (các que nhiên liệu) nặng nề về cho gia thất; vì thế chàng được biết đến với danh xưng “Idhmavāha” — người mang củi.
