Śiva Grants the Pāśupata Astra (Pāśupata-Śastra Upadeśa) | शिवेन पाशुपतास्त्रदानम्
मया समुद्यतान् पाशान् वारुणाननिवारितान् । प्रतिगृह्लीष्व कौन्तेय सरहस्यनिवर्तनम्,“कुन्तीकुमार! मेरे दिये हुए इन वरुण-पाशोंको रहस्य और उपसंहारसहित ग्रहण करो। इनके वेगको कोई भी रोक नहीं सकता
mayā samudyatān pāśān vāruṇān anivāritān | pratigṛhlīṣva kaunteya sa-rahasya-nivartanam ||
Vaiśampāyana nói: “Hỡi con của Kuntī, hãy nhận từ ta những thòng lọng Varuṇa này—đã sẵn sàng và sức mạnh không gì ngăn nổi. Hãy nhận cả pháp môn bí truyền cùng phép thu hồi đúng cách, để quyền năng được giữ trong tiết chế và dùng với sự minh tri.”
