Adhyāya 35
शरीरिणां हि मरणं शरीरे नित्यमाश्रितम् । प्रागेव मरणात् तस्माद् राज्यायैव घटामहे,देहधारीकी मृत्यु सदा उसके शरीरमें ही निवास करती है, अतः मृत्युके पहले ही हमें राज्य-प्राप्तिके लिये चेष्टा करनी चाहिये
śarīriṇāṃ hi maraṇaṃ śarīre nityam āśritam | prāg eva maraṇāt tasmād rājyāyaiva ghaṭāmahe ||
Bhīmasena nói: “Đối với kẻ mang thân, cái chết luôn trú ngụ ngay trong thân này. Vì thế, trước khi tử thần ập đến, chúng ta phải nỗ lực—chỉ nỗ lực—để giành lấy vương quốc.”
भीमसेन उवाच
Death is inseparable from embodied life; recognizing life’s uncertainty, one should act decisively in accordance with one’s duty—here, Bhīma frames it as urgent effort toward rightful kingship rather than delay or resignation.
In the forest-exile context of the Vana Parva, Bhīma speaks forcefully to encourage action: since death can come at any time, the Pāṇḍavas should not remain passive but should exert themselves to regain their kingdom.
