अपेयात् किल भा: सूर्याल्लक्ष्मीश्वन्द्रमसस्तथा । इति लोको व्यवसितो दृष्टवेमां भवतो व्यथाम्,“आपपर जो यह संकट आया है, इस असम्भव-सी घटनाको देखकर लोग यह निश्चयपूर्वक मानने लगे हैं कि सूर्यसे उसकी प्रभा और चन्द्रमासे उसकी चाँदनी भी दूर हो सकती है
apeyāt kila bhāḥ sūryāl lakṣmīś candramasas tathā | iti loko vyavasito dṛṣṭvemāṁ bhavato vyathām ||
Vaiśampāyana nói: “Tựa như ánh rạng của Mặt Trời có thể lìa đi, và vẻ đẹp cùng ánh sáng của Mặt Trăng cũng có thể bị lấy mất. Thấy nỗi khổ của ngài, người đời đã tin chắc rằng ngay cả điều tưởng như không thể cũng có thể xảy ra.”
