सा बान्धवभयाद् बाला गर्भ तं॑ विनिगूहती । धारयामास सुश्रोणी न चैनां बुबुधे जन:,सुन्दर कटिप्रदेशवाली कुन्ती भाई-बन्धुओंके भयसे उस गर्भको छिपाती हुई धारण करने लगी। अत: कोई भी मनुष्य नहीं जान सका कि यह गर्भवती है
sā bāndhava-bhayād bālā garbhaṃ taṃ vinigūhatī | dhārayāmāsa suśroṇī na caināṃ bubudhe janaḥ ||
Vì sợ họ hàng thân thuộc, thiếu nữ ấy che giấu bào thai và tiếp tục mang nặng. Dẫu hông lưng mỹ lệ, nàng giấu kín đến nỗi không một ai trong dân chúng nhận ra nàng đang mang thai.
