Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya
सूर्योदये यः सुसमाहित: पठेत् स पुत्रदारान् धनरत्नसंचयान् । लभेत जातिस्मरतां नर: सदा धृतिं च मेधां च स विन्दते पुमान्,जो मनुष्य सूर्योदयके समय भलीभाँति एकाग्रचित्त हो इन नामोंका पाठ करता है वह स्त्री, पुत्र, धन, रत्नराशि, पूर्वजन्मकी स्मृति, धैर्य तथा उत्तम बुद्धि प्राप्त कर लेता है
sūryodaye yaḥ susamāhitaḥ paṭhet sa putradārān dhana-ratna-saṃcayān | labheta jātismaratāṃ naraḥ sadā dhṛtiṃ ca medhāṃ ca sa vindate pumān ||
Dhaumya nói: Ai vào lúc mặt trời mọc, với tâm thu nhiếp và chuyên nhất, tụng đọc những danh hiệu này, sẽ được phúc lành thịnh vượng trong gia thất—vợ con, của cải và kho tàng châu báu. Người ấy còn đạt được sự nhớ biết liên tục về các đời trước, cùng với nghị lực bền vững và trí tuệ sắc bén. Bài kệ đặt việc tụng niệm buổi sớm như một thực hành đạo đức của tự chế, đem lại cả ổn định thế gian lẫn sự ưu thắng nội tâm.
