Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya
तथा त्वमपि धर्मात्मन् कर्मणा च विशोधित: । तप आस्थाय धर्मेण द्विजातीन् भर भारत,धर्मात्मा भारत! इसी प्रकार तुम भी सत्कर्मसे शुद्ध होकर तपस्याका आश्रय ले धर्मानुसार द्विजातियोंका भरण-पोषण करो
tathā tvam api dharmātman karmaṇā ca viśodhitaḥ | tapa āsthāya dharmeṇa dvijātīn bhara bhārata ||
Hỡi bậc có tâm hồn chính trực—ngươi cũng vậy, đã được gột sạch bởi những thiện hạnh của mình—hãy nương tựa nơi khổ hạnh (tapas), và theo đúng dharma mà nâng đỡ, nuôi dưỡng những người “tái sinh hai lần” (dvija), hỡi Bhārata!
धौग्य उवाच
Purity is affirmed through righteous action, and that inner purification should culminate in disciplined living (tapas) and the fulfillment of social-religious obligations—especially sustaining the dvijas in a dharmic manner.
Dhaumya addresses a Bharata-descended figure, urging him to follow a path of ethical self-discipline: having become purified by good deeds, he should undertake austerity and responsibly maintain the twice-born according to dharma.
